Something wicked this way comes…The Assembly House is hosting A Midsummer Night’s Murder, a murder mystery night after darkness falls with a delicious canapé reception in the Grand Hall, a sumptuous three-course dinner in the beautiful Music Room and a night of frighteningly good immersive theatre as you dine.

Theatre company Dreamstone Productions has created an Assembly House-themed murder mystery based on the history of the House, guaranteeing a night of thrills, chills and at least one kill on a Midsummer evening at Norwich’s most glittering address. Dare you join us?

Date: Saturday July 6 2024. Arrive at 7pm for an Elderflower Spritz and canapés on arrival, dinner will be served at 7.30pm and the finale takes place at 9.30pm.

The plot…

It is midsummer in 1600. The Assembly House is owned by Sir Thomas Cornwallis who, always keen to keep up appearances, has invited everyone of High Society to celebrate the forthcoming wedding of his daughter.

Eager to jump on the fashionable bandwagon, Lord Cornwallis has heard that a new play about mischievous faeries is all the rage in London, and has asked a local acting troupe to perform the play, as the climax to his evening’s festivities.

However, it looks as if Lord Cornwallis is in for trouble. His daughter is not keen to get married – and on top of that, the acting troupe he has hired are not very good! They do not seem to know the lines, are squabbling between themselves about who gets the lead role and cannot decide whose Bottom is best!

Can Lord Cornwallis keep control of the night, see his daughter safely married off, and survive what looks like turning into a murderous Midsummer Nightmare?
