Something wicked this way comes…The Assembly House is hosting Murder in a Mask, a murder mystery night after darkness falls with a delicious canapé reception in the Grand Hall, a sumptuous three-course dinner in the beautiful Music Room and a night of frighteningly good immersive theatre as you dine.

Theatre company Dreamstone Productions has created a murder mystery that brings a grand Venetian masquerade ball to The Assembly House, guaranteeing a night of thrills, chills and at least one kill on an autumnal evening at Norwich’s most glittering address. Dare you join us?

Date: Saturday September 28 2024. Arrive at 7pm for an Aperol Spritz and canapés on arrival, dinner will be served at 7.30pm and the finale takes place at 9.30pm.

The plot:

Poor gondolier, Pietro Balestra is in love with Maria Abruzzo, a girl from a wealthy family just home from her traditional convent upbringing. The Masquerade Ball Maria’s father is throwing to celebrate her homecoming may be the perfect opportunity for Pietro to enter the house unseen and affect an elopement – if he can persuade Maria to run away with him.

In the meantime, Leandre Abruzzo, Maria’s severe and straight-laced father, is trying to court English opera singer Anne Hogarth, who is in Venice to perform at the newly-opened opera house, La Fenice. Rumours abound that Leandre has invested heavily in La Fenice, and Anne may be in trouble if she does not do what Leandre wants.

With everyone in disguise, each person impersonating somebody else and no way of knowing who is who, have the lovers got any chance of escaping? And, most importantly – will anyone get away with murder?

Carnivalesque disguises and masks encouraged.
